The patriotic Liberty rug described in the above article about Restoration by Costikyan was perhaps the first commemorative rug woven by The Shuttleworth Brothers Factory in Amsterdam, NY. It certainly was not the last.
The rug business started to show some life in the fourth quarter, but no one is kidding themselves. Rugs are the ultimate postponable purchase. Even the most optimistic predict that real recovery for the category will probably not take hold until the second half of 2010.
