    HIGH POINT, NC  - Rug exhibitors are ambivalent about the High Point market. On the plus side, most report that business is showing signs of picking up after a sluggish Summer season. On the negative side, they have concerns about customers in the southeast affected by the season's hurricanes and they fear that high gasoline prices and the continuing war in Iraq may put a damper on both retail and consumer buying.

    NEW YORK -- The New York Home Textiles Show will cease to exist in its present format. The transition to new timing and a new location will begin in August, 2006. Global Connections, the sourcing exhibition now operating within the New York Home Textiles Show,  will be spun off into an independent show and will relocate to Las Vegas, beginning in May, 2007.

    NEW YORK - On the surface, it was business as usual for rug exhibitors at this week's New York Home Textiles Market.  Traffic may have been a little lighter than usual, but no one was complaining. Underneath the market smiles, however, the industry was in turmoil over the timing of future markets.

    HIGH POINT -  Rug prices are on the upswing, despite vendor efforts to absorb cost increases.  Price increases averaging 5% to 10% have either been put into effect recently or will be instituted in the next few months, according to several major suppliers.
