    Rug companies had much to celebrate at Las Vegas Market with designers and retailers out in force since Winter Market coincided for the first time with the annual Design & Construction Week. With the highest attendance numbers in its history, the market was backdrop for bountiful new rug launches, product line extensions, parties and anniversaries. Here are some of the highlights.

    LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Market announced that the Winter Market, which ran Sunday, January 18, through Thursday, January 22, 2015, registered the highest attendance numbers in the Market's nearly 10-year history, with overall growth of 11% over Winter 2014, and a 21% jump in attendance in the gift and home décor segment, specifically.

  • 02062015 U.S. High-End Rug Firms Win Carpet Design Awards at Domotex 2015

    U.S. HIGH-END RUG FIRMS WIN CARPET DESIGN AWARDS AT DOMOTEX 2015


    Domotex awarded Los Angeles-based Art Resources the Best Traditional Design category award for its Classic Revival collection silk rugs hand knotted in India.


    New Jersey-based Wool & Silk won the Best Modern Collection award for its Steppe collection in four designs representing the seasons, Spring shown here.

    CHICAGO - Hannover Fairs USA (HFUSA) announced its U.S. exhibitor clients, Wool & Silk and Art Resources, received top honors in two categories of the Carpet Design Awards presented at Domotex 2015 in Hannover, Germany.  Best designer carpet awards were made in a total of eight categories and selected from over 250 international entries from 23 countries. Also, as part of the Innovations@Domotex program, the juried showcase for floor covering innovations, HFUSA client, Mannington Mills, featured two of its latest floor covering solutions.

    Reporting upbeat traffic, Dena Richards designer for Eliko Antique & Decorative Rugs said designers were the company's main target at NY Now.

    NEW YORK - Despite opening on Super Bowl Sunday and facing a major snow storm, NY Now 2015 commanded enough foot traffic on Sunday to please many in the rug industry. Exhibitors at the revamped furnishings fair, formerly known as the New York International Gift Show, were there to connect with clients old and new, and to present trend-right designs and colors rather than to launch new products, which many makers debuted in January in Atlanta and Las Vegas.

    LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Market has changed the dates for its Winter 2016 Market to Sunday, January 24 to Thursday, January 28, 2016. The shift to the last week of January allows for more space between other markets to accommodate buyers, manufacturers and designers across the US and internationally, according to Bob Maricich, chief executive officer of International Market Centers.   The International Surface Event (TISE) 2016 will be held January 20 to 22, 2016 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas in conjunction with Design & Construction Week 2016.

    DALLAS - Informa Exhibitions U.S. announced the results of the 2015 recycling initiative at The International Surface Event (TISE) held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas last month. Over a three-day period, January 21 to 23, more than 84 exhibitors committed to donating, and 140,765 pounds of gently used floor covering, stone and tile products were collected.  Mountain Re-Source Center and its subsidiary, Tile Partners for Humanity, along with Informa Exhibitions U.S., led this initiative with joint participation and support from the Freeman Companies, United Services and the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

    HIGH POINT, NC - The High Point Market Authority, in association with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), is set to host the Design Viewpoints Series April 18 to 21 with two "bonus" educational sessions.  The series will take place in the High Point Theatre, at the Transportation Terminal here and offers up to 0.4 continuing education units (CEUs) to those who attend. All sessions are Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) approved.

    FORT MILL, SC - The U.S. arm of English lifestyle brand Laura Ashley has partnered with rug manufacturer Creative Home Ideas to launch a line of rugs to be unveiled at next month's New York Home Fashions Market.  With retails starting at $25, the initial 50-SKU collection includes kitchen wellness rugs, accent rugs, bath rugs and outdoor mats. The rug collection will be presented during market at the Creative Home showroom in 295 Fifth Avenue, suite 1714.

The three exhibitors set to show in L.A. won Carpet Design Awards at the 2015 Domotex trade fair in Hannover, Germany.

    LONDON - At January's Domotex 2015 and Surfaces shows, Wools of New Zealand debuted rugs featuring Aulana technology, a proprietary process that combines pure wool and genuine gold to create dye-free ultra-luxe carpets. Dubbed the Midas Rug, the first-ever hand-knotted Aulana rug was crafted by high-end weaver Obeetee in India. Also shown were hand-tufted Aulana rugs from International Carpet of Hong Kong.

    LAS VEGAS/BRADFORD, ENGLAND - Eight U.S. rug and carpet companies have partnered with the multi-national Campaign for Wool (CFW), including Nourison, Masland, Delos, Savnik & Co., Godfrey Hirst USA, J. Mish, Hibernia Woolen Mills and Bloomsburg Carpet. They are participating in CFW's new social media, marketing and educational outreach programs for 2015, announced last month at The International Surface Event (TISE).
