Leaving High Point signifies much more than cost-cutting. It is marketing strategy. Rug vendors who have left High Point have, by their actions, decided they are not interested in the independent furniture/designer channel of distribution or that they will pursue those stores in other ways.

NEW YORK – Seminars and events have been scheduled for Home Textiles Market Week, August 14 to 20. The Home Textiles Market Week is conducted by George Little Management and runs concurrently with the NY Gift Market. More than 500 suppliers of luxury home textiles will participate.
Surya hosted a farewell party at the recent High Point market for Gil Kemp, founder and president of Home Decorators Collection, the St. Louis-based home decor catalog and on-line retailer now owned by Home Depot. Kemp is retiring this Summer. NEW YORK -- Even the heady word of ultra-haute contemporary design has been affected by the world-wide recession. This year's International Contemporary Furniture Fair, held May 16 to 19 at New York's Jacob Javits Convention Center, did not have as many exhibitors as in the past. And many long-time exhibitors pared down on the size of their booths.
