As I made my rounds at the Winter markets in Atlanta and Las Vegas, I was reminded of a quotation by the writer Victor Frankl : “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”

NEW YORK -- While digital technology continues to reshape the way companies and consumers interact, social media is not replacing the in-store shopping experience, according to a new report by Price Waterhouse Cooper (PwC ) titled "Demystifying the Online Shopper: 10 Myths of Multichannel Retailing."
Internet retailers are a prime target for 2013 rug industry growth. Both the Atlanta and Las Vegas Markets were crawling with these good natured entrepreneurs, and rug vendors welcomed them with open arms. Most of them are young and enthusiastic and full of hope and new ideas.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Imports of carpets and rugs to the U.S. were up 7.5% in 2012 over 2011, according to figures released by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of Textile & Apparel. Total shipments amounted to $1.7 billion in 2012 compared to $1.58 billion in 2011.

MACY’S REPORTS FOURTH YEAR OF DOUBLE-DIGIT EARNINGS GROWTH
CINCINNATI – Macy's, Inc.'s sales and earnings grew significantly in the fourth quarter and full year 2012, ended Feb. 2, 2013. The company again added more than $1 billion in sales growth in 2012. Sales rose by 3.7% for the year, on top of increases of 5.3% in 2011 and 4.6% in 2010, according to Terry J. Lundgren, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Macy's, Inc.
THE HOME DEPOT REPORTS 13% SALES INCREASE IN FOURTH QUARTER 2012
ATLANTA – The Home Depot reported sales of $18.2 billion for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012, a 13.9% increase from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011. Comparable store sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012 increased 7%, and comp sales for U.S. stores were 7.1%.
