The rug industry has a love-hate relationship with High Point. Vendors LOVE the idea of being in close proximity to furniture retailers, but they HATE the idea of being the “red-headed stepchild” of the home furnishings business.

First Report: ECONOMIC CHALLENGES CONTINUE BUT HIGH POINT MARKET HAD STEADY RUG TRAFFIC

HIGH POINT, NC -- Nobody was leaping for joy, but rug exhibitors at this Fall's International Furniture Market reported that traffic was steady throughout the market and retailers were buying. The recession may be "officially" over, but the entire economy and particularly the home furnishings business still has a long, long way to go to make up the sales declines of 2008-2009. Still, there were some indications that business is moving forward again.

HIGH POINT -- The High Point International Furniture Market seems to be on the upswing again for the rug industry. A few years ago, rug exhibitors were leaving High Point, but now several of them are returning in different venues.
CONCORD, NH – Marybeth Ferrer has been promoted to national sales director for Company C, according to Walter Chapin, president and chief executive officer. Ferrer previously served as sales representative and key accounts sales leader.
