10 RUG EXHIBITORS SHOWCASE ARTISTRY AT BD WEST IN LOS ANGELES
BD West opens this week with top names like Liora Manne showcasing creative solutions for hospitality installations, like the designer's Canvas Kenya collection featuring a new application of her Lamontage process.
LOS ANGELES -- Leading off the 2019 circuit of interior design shows focusing on the hospitality market, BD West opens this week with 10 area rug exhibitors on the roster.
To be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on March 13 and 14, the show's rug participants include New York designer Liora Manne, New Jersey-based Creative Touch, and first-time exhibitor Mobayen Rugs, which is headquartered in Beverly Hills. Other exhibitors in the category include Alarwool SL, Janus et Cie, MGroup, Peerless Contract, PierPoint, Tarkett and Zenith Rugs.
Following is a sneak peek at designs on show, which bring craftsmanship, texture, color and artistry to the once minimalist and commercial-looking hospitality soft-surface floor covering market:
At stand #413, designer Liora Manne presents new for 2019 designs as well as the Canvas Kenya collection, which was shown for the first time at BDNY in November, 2018.
Liora Manne shows the creative process used to produce the new Canvas Kenya Namib design (above) with layers of textiles in varying textures placed on a jute cloth. Below, the elements are needle-punched with the proprietary Lamontage technique for the final product sample.
The Canvas Kenya collection is Manne's latest special formulation for wall covering, pillows, and floor cloth. Artisans layer woven jute into the patented Lamontage needle-punching process for four designs incorporating the natural woven jute cloth ground with contrasting elements. The earthy and colorful line includes: Baramba and Mali Tile, each in six colorways, and Serengeti and Namib. Manne explains that the uniquely textured patterns blur the lines between modern and tribal.
Just in time for spring, Creative Touch introduces a flatweave natural ground rug with pile floral motif.
At Creative Touch, the popular Bosphorus line on show at BDNY stand #716 has been expanded and now comprises around 60 options. Within the new offerings are rugs with a cut pile design over a flatweave background, in 100 percent wool or wool combined with bamboo silk. Patterns include geometric designs in soft neutral colors.
This contemporary design from the Bosphorus collection by Creative Touch Rugs combines cut pile over a flatweave ground.
A detail of an graphic texture from Mobayen Rugs features hand-loomed pile over a tufted wool ground.
Mobayen, which has been working with the hospitality and retail interior design community in Los Angeles for over 20 years, premieres at BD West with a sampling of its high quality handmade rugs and custom flooring solutions. At stand #652, company director Ramin Mobayen will display designs suited for hospitality installations in several techniques: hand loomed, hand tufted, hand knotted in a variety of colors, styles and materials.
Mobayen's Indo Tibetan design is woven of wool and viscose and shown in blue, cream and gold with custom available to designers.

Los Angeles-based Zenith Rugs, with a long and impressive list of hospitality installations, offers floor coverings for all areas of a project, ranging from Axminsters to hand-tufted, hand-knotted and indoor-outdoor products. The company will present samples displaying custom rug options, including 100 percent New Zealand wool, bamboo silk, viscose, nylon, Swarovski Crystal Elements and more.
