HICKORY, N.C. -- Samson Investment Holding Company and Kolher Company entered into an agreement on Feb. 15, 2017 in which Samson agrees to acquire the furniture brands Baker, Milling Road and McGuire from Kohler. Samson's current furniture holdings include Universal, Legacy Classic and Craftmaster.
A filing from Samson Holding notes that the total consideration for the acquisition is $35,000,000, including $29,500,000 for sale shares and $5,500,000 for the potential acquisition of real property consisting of approximately 35.903 acres of land and the building at 1105 22nd Street S.E., Hickory, N. C. The building houses offices, manufacturing site and warehouse for the Kohler Interiors Group.
The acquisition is set to close on Feb. 28.
The Samson statement explained that: "Kohler Interiors Group, Ltd., owns three global luxury furniture brands, namely, Baker, Milling Road and McGuire, and each with a history of leading design, quality and craftsmanship. Baker was founded in 1890 and is synonymous with craftsmanship and high quality, luxury home furnishings, while Milling Road offers a range of furniture and home accessories with excellent design aesthetics at more accessible price points. McGuire was founded in 1948 and it features casual lifestyle offering of luxury furniture and accessories that emphasizes the use of natural rattan, leather and metals.
"The Group sells its products through showrooms in North America, England, and France, and furniture dealer locations across the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. It maintains relationships with over 19,000 interior designers who recommend the products to consumers worldwide. The Group manufactures its products at facilities in North Carolina of the United States and Indonesia."
