2010 CONTRACTWORLD AWARD
WINNERS ANNOUNCED

HANNOVER, GERMANY – Entrants from Spain, Austria, Japan and Germany took home the 2010 Contractworld Award, an international architecture award presented  Jan. 16 at Domotex Hannover.

The 623 projects submitted were in four categories: Offices, Hotels, Shops and Education/Healthcare.

Exclusively for architects and designers, the principal criteria on which the entries are judged were quality, functionality and aesthetic value, as well as innovative treatment of space, materials, color and surface texture or finish.

The winners were:

Offices/Administration Buildings category

First place: Bailo + Rull/Add + Arquitectura, Barcelona, Spain
Project:  Landscape Hall, a new extension inserted into the historic Town Hall in Manresa, Spain    

Second place: Bus Wüstemann, Zürich, Switzerland, Barcelona, Spain
Project: Mediaxis, Schlieren, Switzerland

Third place: Carlos Martinez Architekten AG, Widnau, Switzerland
Project: Bühler AG Customer Center, Uzwil, Switzerland

Hotels/Spas/Catering facilities category

First place: Feld72, Vienna, Austria
Project: Million Donkey Hotel, Prata Sannita, Italy

Second place: Deppisch Architekten, Freising, Germany
Project: Biohotel im Apfelgarten, Hohenbercha, Germany

Third place: X Architekten, Linz, Austria
Project: Vanilli Bar/Club/Cult, Linz, Austria

Shops / Showrooms / Exhibition stands category

First place: Ryo Matsui Architects Inc., Tokyo, Japan
Project: Tierra hairdressing salon, Tokyo, Japan

Second place: HHF Architekten + Ai Weiwei, Basel, Switzerland
Project: Artfarm, Salt Point, New York

Third place: Caramel Architekten Zt Gesmbh, Vienna, Austria
Project: Infopoint Linz09, Linz, Austria

Education/Training/Healthcare category

First place: Technical Univeristy of Kaiserslautern, Faculty of Architecture, Building construction II and Design, Kaiserlautern, Germany
Project: Small campus Pfaffenberg – Building no. 1 at Kaiserslautern Technical University, Kaiserlautern, Germany

Second place: Meck Architekten, Munich, Germany       
Project: Dominikuszentrum, Munich, Germany

Third place: Korteknie Stuhlmacher Architecten, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Project: De Kamers Vathorst, Amersfoort, Netherlands

Domotex Hannover will take place January 16 to 19, 2010 at the Hannover Fairgrounds in Hannover, Germany.
