ATLANTA -- Karastan's Myanmar design from its Spice Market series was awarded a Magnificent Carpet Award in the "Machine Made, $200.01 to $400" category this January during the Atlanta International Rug Market featuring the National Oriental Rug Show.
Drawing heavily on classic Persian and Asian designs, but with a modern twist, all Spice Market rugs are woven on Van De Weile looms in the U.S. of EverStrand fiber (Karastan's premium polyester produced from up to 100 percent recycled plastic). Suggested retail price in 5'3" x 7'10" is $399.
"We searched high and low for antique rugs that intrigued and inspired us to use as a basis for the development of these rugs," says Tracy Alan Pruitt, vice president of design, Karastan. "Each rug is then afforded a modern, unique allure from distinctive details like eroded edges, ombres and color shifting."
All of the Spice Market rugs are realized in rich, sultry, jewel-inspired tones of lapis, amethyst, turquoise and garnet subdued by a strong grounding presence of neutrals including gray, gold, bronze, ebony and ivory. Spice Market rugs feature a soft hand, inherent stain resistance and vivid color clarity. Myanmar is available in aquamarine and tobacco colorways.
