Rugnews.com Bulletin: SHAW LIVING MFG FACILITY SPARED AS TORNADOES BLOW THROUGH NORTH GEORGIA

RINGGOLD, GA --The Shaw Living manufacturing facility was untouched as tornadoes roared through north Georgia Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, April 27 and 28.

"The Shaw facility is okay and we are safe, but the area looks like a war zone with devastation all around," said Kim Barta, brand manager for Shaw Living. "There is no power in the area and the Ringgold exit on Interstate 75 is closed."
The Rugnews.com office in Dalton, Ga. is also safe, according to Katrina Young, senior editor and executive administrator.
"Cohutta, Chatsworth, Rocky Face and Ringgold were hit with tornados. It went around us but the wind and rain was horrible here. I watched trees lay over in my yard and I could hear them cracking down the road," said Young." Fortunately, we didn't lose power or the Internet."
Aaron Gray, director of marketing for Oriental Weavers USA, said, "All is well here, and it is business as usual. "
Gray said that Dalton experience heavy winds and some hail, but the city was spared serious consequences of the storms."
Gray said it was miraculous that the Shaw facility escaped damage. "The exit where the Shaw Facility islocated was pretty much destroyed. Several hotels, restaurants, gas stations and other business are gone, " he reported.
Approximately 35 miles south of Ringgold, Calhoun and Adairsville, GA. , is home to several rug distribution facilities. The area was not affected by the storms, according to Angie Shook, director of sales and marketing for Rizzy Home, headquartered in Calhoun.

It's business as usual at Surya's facility in Calhoun, as well, according to Seth King, vice president of sales and marketing. "As I was driving up this morning I did see a huge swath of trees on both sides of the freeway where the tornado ripped through. Pretty amazing," he said.
