09082009 7W Designer Day Series to Feature Well Known Designers

7W DESIGNER DAY SESSION
TO FEATURE DECORATING
FROM THE FLOOR UP

 

NEW YORK – Decorating with decorative and Oriental rugs is the topic of a Designer Day event Sept. 21 at 7 W New York. The seminar will take place during the New York International Carpet Show (NYICS) which runs at 7 West 34th St. from Sept. 20 to 22.

Harlem-based designer Roderick N. Shade will lead the discussion entitled Build Your Project from the Ground Up: The Decorative and Oriental Rug as Design Inspiration. Other participants include interior designers and tastemakers Alexa Hampton and Christopher Coleman and carpet expert Neslihan Christobel Jevremovic.

The event takes place at 11:30 a.m. at 7 W. 34th St. The panel will discuss the aesthetic impact and increased efficiency of selecting the carpet at the beginning of the design process. Lunch will follow the presentation.

Roderick N. Shade is an Architectural Digest  100 Designer and author who has created a signature aesthetic by weaving traditional and exotic pieces into a polished, urbane style. Shade founded his firm in 1993 and has focused on urban areas such as New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago.

Alexa Hampton is the owner and featured designer of Mark Hampton LLC, the design firm founded in 1976 by her late father, Mark Hampton. Hampton is a perennial member of the AD 100 and is known for her elegant and iconic interiors.

Christopher Coleman, owner of Christopher Coleman Interior Design, guides clients through the design process to create and execute spaces that are unmistakably their own. He is a regular panelist at design shows around the country.

Neslihan Christobel Jevremovic is an authority on carpets and co-owner of Woven Legends and Material Culture. 

7 W New York is a wholesale mart building, catering to the buyers of Home Décor, Table Top, Giftware, Textiles, Decorative Accessories, Fine Arts and related industries. 7 W New York is a trademark of MMPI.

The New York International Carpet Show (NYICS), founded by carpet expert Dennis Dodds, is a marketplace for contemporary and traditional decorative carpets. 

The event takes place during New York Metro Market Week.
