BREAKING NEWS: ABC CARPET OPENS NEW STORE IN INDUSTRY CITY, BROOKLYN ABC Carpet & Home is the latest addition to Sunset Park Brooklyn's trendy waterfront Industry City development -- and RugNews.com offers an exclusive first look.

NEW YORK -- Iconic New York area rug and home furnishings purveyor ABC Carpet & Home opens a new retail shop and distribution center in Sunset Park Brooklyn as part of a trendy economic development area called Industry City. 

ABC consolidated its Bronx and Hackensack operations, both of which closed last year, to Industry City and leased approximately 78,000 square feet in Building19, on both the first floor and fifth floors, according to a statement on that redevelopment program's website.

The just-opened Brooklyn ABC outlet store, now the company's third retail location, is on the ground level of the building and includes a distinct area rug and carpet department with stacks of one-of-a-kind area rugs. The store also features home furnishings, home accessories and decor cross merchandised in vignettes complemented by an area rug.

The new ABC store, located at 3906 2nd Ave., joins recently opened, nearby Bed Bath & Beyond and CostPlus World Market, which are part of a BBB developed urban mall featuring several BBB brands, also in Brooklyn's Sunset Park neighborhood (read full story). 

Industry City, a Sunset Park Brooklyn revitalization effort, features classic loft architecture along Brooklyn's waterfront.

Sunset Park's revitalization efforts include Industry City, comprised of six million square feet of classic New York industrial architecture that has been repurposed for a range of businesses. The area includes several classic warehouse buildings and five acres of open space. Other retailers located in the park are Design Within Reach, newly opened custom bike shop and cafe Maglia Rosa and hand-screened wallpaper atelier Flavor Paper. In the mix as well are restaurants and bars, art galleries, and an art collectives and foundation.
