DOMOTEX OFFERS SPECIAL EVENTS
AT 2008 HANNOVER EVENT

HANNOVER, GERMANY - Domotex Hannover is gearing up for the opening of the annual European floor covering market, running Jan 12 to 15.

Several American based companies will be on hand at Domotex, both as floor covering buyers and as suppliers.

Feizy Rugs will be showing in Hall C-C14.

Mohawk International, B05/B06 will show four of its carpet brands --Karastan Contract, Lees Carpets, Bigelow Commercial and Durkan Hospitality. Mohawk exports to Latin America and the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Australia.

Other international companies which will be on hand include:

Miaco International, a Lahore-based manufacturer which will be showing at the Pakistan Pavilion, Hall 15, Stand F-35. Miaco will introduce a new line of hand knotted contemporay designs which translate nature into the woven arts.

Taking a cue from the popular civic programs that painting statues of cows, sheep, pigs and other animals, Devos-Caby Carpets,(DC Carpets) a Belgium-based manufacturer and importer, is introducing Cow Parade, a series of hand tufted modacrylic rug inspired by a series of painted cows. Made in China, the suggested retail price is approximately $269 in 6 x 9.

We will present the collection for the first time ever in Domotex 2008. Maybe we will have the possibility to meet there.

Chinese manufacturer and exporter Qinghai Tibetan Sheep Carpets (Group) Ltd., begins the Winter Market season with a large exhibit in Hall 15, Stand F 25.

The company will also begin promoting the annual International Carpet Exhibition which takes place this year from May 16 to 21 in Xining City, China.

Over 120 members of the Indian Carpet Export Council will exhibit at the upcoming Domotex Hannover Fair. The exhibitors represent manufacturers of hand made carpets and rugs, machine woven carpets and  rugs, textile and resilient floor coverings, fibers and yarns, parquet and other wood flooring, laminate flooring, natural stone, ceramic floor tiles, applications technology and installation, cleaning and maintenance products.

Posh Fashionation, which offers design services for rugs, fabrics and accessories, will be showing for the first time in Domotext, Hall 3, Stand A 54.

Posh Fashionation is headed by Virginie Blaenckaert,  an international designer who has worked on major projects for several US rug vendors.

 

Domotex will offer a series of special presentations targeted at specific user groups during Domotex Hannover 2008, Jan. 12 to Jan 15.

Carpet Design Awards, Hall 15

The annual Design Awards will be presented for the third year.  Worth a total of 10,000 euros ($14,766) in prize money, the awards are given for creative and innovative design in the hand-made carpet segment. Carpets entered in the competition will be judged in 10 categories by a jury of professionals who will rate the entries in terms of design, creative flair and quality of workmanship.

The jury chairman is Matthew Bourne, contributing editor of  Modern Carpets & Textile Interiors from the United Kingdom. Other members of the international jury include Ben Evans, editor of Hali and Modern Carpets & Textile Interiors; Kate Blee, a UK textile artist; Markus Lippert from the German furnishings chain Hiendl, Peter Mauch, a German certified expert in hand-made carpets; Zeynep Fadillioglu, an interior designer and art historian from Turkey; Paul Ramsey, an expert in Oriental carpets and the art of weaving from the USA, and David Sorgato from Italy, founder of the Michail Gallery in Milan.

In an additional category, visitors to Domotex Hannover 2008 will choose their own personal favorite from among the carpets submitted. The finalists will be on display in Hall 15. The awards will be presented on Sunday, January 13.

The Loom Lounge, Hall 17 

The Loom Lounge  will provide potential customers an informal setting to speak with exhibitors of hand-made carpets who have joined forces in a group initiative to focus on hand-knotted carpets and rugs, both classical/traditional and modern designs. Coffee will be served.

Floor Forum, Hall 3

Floor Forum is a showcase for the latest trends in contemporary carpet design and floor coverings. Designer Ulf Moritz from Amsterdam will assemble a set of four room settings, Natural Beauty, Exclusive Extravagance, Functional Coolness, and Classic Comfort.  The focus on high-quality carpets and floor coverings.
