NEW YORK --- Apadana Fine Rugs and Bokara Rug Co. exhibited for the first time at HX: The Hotel Experience show, co-located with BDNY, the boutique hospitality design show, running concurrently at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. HX is North America's largest trade event for hotel and restaurant owners and executives across the hospitality spectrum.
Mike Alidadi, co-owner of Apadana based in nearby Norwalk, Connecticut, has been testing new shows and distribution channels for the past few years including NY Now and ICFF. Alidadi said he learned a lot regarding the hospitality industry from attending HX, speaking with attendees, and by listening to presentations given during the event.
Apadana's large booth showcased a variety of styles for hospitality shoppers including Moroccan designs, transitional and contemporary.
Apadana showed a broad range of styles at HX, including one of its best-sellers, a hand-knotted all-wool rug from the Savannah collection. At their retail location in Norwalk, Apadana also does brisk business with color saturated vintage overdyed rugs, and a new collection called Artistically Distressed, which features vintage wool rugs that are sourced in Pakistan and acid washed to remove parts of the traditional pattern for an updated, contemporary look.
Likewise Bokara Rug has been appearing at new show venues throughout 2016. In May, the company debuted at two NYCxDesign events: the edgy Design Junction in conjunction with Dwell on Design, and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). Bokara premiered later in the year at its first NY Now show in September. At the HX hospitality event this month, Gabby Vaknin from Bokara displayed an assortment of contemporary and transitional designs for show shoppers.
