HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Art Resources, a hand-made area rug atelier with showrooms in Los Angeles and Carlstadt, New Jersey, enters the machine-made category.

A sneak peek was offered at The Rug Show, held in mid-September, however, the new lineup will officially roll out at the upcoming High Point Market, Oct. 22-26.

"We decided to enter the machine-made category because there are so few options for rug galleries," Jack Simantob, co-owner of Art Resources, told RugNews.com. "There is no one offering a fair price and good selection to rug dealers so we are now offering a strong selection of power-loomed rugs with a price point starting at $2.95 per square foot up to $9.20, which is 2 million point with 10 colors."

Noted Art Resources' Eddie Simantob, "We are hand-made rug dealers. I used to be skeptical, but after looking and working with the Turkish machine-made rug manufacturers, I truly think that they are much nicer and better value than low-end handmade rugs both in terms of looks and quality. The dealers that visited us at The Rug Show realized that and our machine-made section had a great reception."

Art Resources enters machine-made rugs, rolling out a line geared toward rug dealers and featuring two qualities.

Art Resources' first machine-mades will be offered in two qualities (2 million point and 720,000 point) with a total of 14 textural designs, all of which will be on show during High Point Market at the company's Market Square second-floor showroom, 294. The rugs feature high-low details and styles range from abstract, to geometric and updated classic motifs.

"We were losing business to people who didn't have the budget for a hand-knotted rug, so this is a good avenue to retain them," he added.

Art Resources new power-loomed rugs are designed to appeal to rug dealers and feature a range of textural styles.
