Couristan Expands Digital Initiatives in Response to Covid-19 Crisis

Despite the economic downturn, Couristan's sales remain steady, still the company continues to invest in its digital strategy.

FORT LEE, N.J. -- Couristan's area rug, custom and broadloom revenues have remained steady despite the Covid-19 crisis that has seen retailers and business close their doors, and in response to current climate the company  is boosting its digital efforts.

"Despite what appears to be an economic downturn, our area rug, broadloom and custom rug sales have been steady," Larry Mahurter, VP of sales and marketing at Couristan, told RugNews.com. "Our warehouse team is very dedicated and has been working extremely hard to expedite our orders, sample request and custom fabrications in a timely manner. Our headquarters team continues to work remotely, however their knowledge and experience has really paid off during this difficult time."

Going forward Couristan's website, social media outlets, and digital marketing initiatives will expand and begin to offer more resourceful tools for customers to use.

Couristan, over the past three years, has increased its social media efforts on Instagram and Facebook, focusing more on Instagram as its demographics analytics show that its primary demographic is more active on that platform. "We learned a long time ago its just not about posting beautiful products in beautiful settings, its about story-telling through our posts, its about making a connection that will allow the viewer to associate  themselves with your brand," Mahurter said.


Couristan's digitally printed Pasha collection (shown, Tribal) features vibrant colors and a soft hand for added value.

In addition, the company is developing augmented and virtual reality tools to allow Couristan customers to sell to their customers in a quick and more efficient manner.  "This will not only be catered to e-commerce customers but our brick-and-mortar customers as well.
