HIGH POINT – A hospitality industry design star who recently set her sights on residential, Stacy Garcia is growing her licensed product collaborations with LR Home and Karastan Rugs and expects further expansion in 2023.

“We are already working on our next collection with LR Home, which will launch at the Spring 2023 High Point Market,” she told RugNews.com in an exclusive interview at the October 2022 market. “The collection we’re showing this week was previewed in High Point last season; it’s now in stock and we’re actually launching at retail this season. We’re expanding into poufs with our first pouf launch this market, and we’re looking to grow our categories further with LR Home as well.”

LR Home and Stacy Garcia gave a first peek of their upcoming poufs at the recent High Point Market.

At the expansive new LR Home showroom in IHFC’s Design Center, Garcia walked RugNews.com editors through her branded Stacy Garcia Home shop, which has been designed to accommodate even more product line expansions. “We are really excited because one of our pillows was Style Spotted by Janna Platina Phipps, whose handle is Trim Queen on Instagram.

This lavishly embellished printed pillow was chosen by Style Spotter Janna Phipps, who is known on social media
as the Trim Queen.

“She’s all about embellishment and trim, and the pillow she Style Spotted is embellished all over. It’s kind of the centerpiece of the collection: it allows designers or retailers to place that pillow in a room or display, and build upon it with solids, with our textures, with some of our more subtle patterns. It’s a great centerpiece with its little knots, little beads and embroidery. It looks like a little art piece.”

Garcia’s Karastan Strategy

As to her collaboration with Karastan, Garcia says she is really excited that handmade rugs have been added to the licensed collection this High Point Market. On show for the first time was the Depiction collection, featuring Annora and Bancroft, hand-knotted designs made of 100 percent wool with the designer’s signature layering of color and pattern.

“It’s really our first handmade line, and we’re teasing it this market. When a retailer is looking at good, better, best, they find that most of our rugs are in the better category – made with SmartStrand recycled yarn and very soft. This time we made some handmade rugs, so we’re in the best category: beautiful colors and contemporary designs.”

Indeed, Stacey Garcia’s rug line is expanding in both categories, noting that hand-mades are directed toward High Point customers, and machine-mades at Las Vegas. “We’re teasing at three machine-made patterns here in High Point that will be the beginning of our Las Vegas Market collection for January. Vegas is more machine-made. They were very well received over the past two markets, and we’re rolling out some exclusives with retailers. We’re getting good traction this market,” she said.

As an established forecaster of color and design trends, Garcia’s signature designs bring an unparalleled layering of color and pattern to Karastan Rugs, empowering consumers to mix and match for a colorful lifestyle, according to the company.
