Rug exhibitors at the upcoming Las Vegas Market roll out fashion-forward area rugs in a range of weaves.

LAS VEGAS - Area rug vendors exhibiting at Las Vegas Market keep the focus on proven area rug collections, updating them with fresh patterns or colorways. Yet there is plenty of newness also expected to make a splash at the upcoming show, running July 28-Aug. 1.

What's more, several collections which were introduced at the spring High Point Market make their West Coast debut based on strong results at that semi-annual home furnishings event.

Many area rug showrooms continue to focus on trending hand-crafted constructions while still offering more value conscious buyers plenty of options. Even within a weave category, such as hand-knotted, summer shoppers can browse everything from more attainably priced goods featuring thicker wools and chunkier knots to luxurious hand-knotted pieces, and multiple qualities in between. Highlight debuts include updated traditional looks in trending colorations and neutrals and abstract styles, some in neutrals, others in lively color plays.

Hand-tufted wool products, in both cut and loop and plush pile constructions continue to trend and rug makers continue to invest in the category. In fact, the selection of tufted rugs seems poised for a renaissance as vendors re-commit to the category rolling out designs in rich colorations, often with carved details, and a wealth of styles to choose from. Some favorite looks include organic abstract patterns in trend-forward palettes, geometric and linear motifs in neutrals, and color rich ombre looks and saturated solids.

Finally traditional machine-made purveyors continue to test the handmade waters for the summer show, introducing a selection of hand-knotted or hand-crafted styles. Still their bailiwick remains the machine-woven category and they showcase their expertise with the latest debuts that merge value with fashion-forward features and performance qualities.

RugNews.com takes you on the industry's only comprehensive roundup of area rugs debuting at the summer Las Vegas Market.
