Exquisite Rugs showcases its mid- to high-end hand-knotted area rug assortment in its just opened Commerce, California, designer showroom.
LAS ANGELES -- Exquisite Rugs, a hand-knotted rug manufacturer, has opened its first permanent showroom in Commerce for designers. T
he light and spacious 7,000 square foot space, which is now taking appointments, showcases the decades-old company's broad array of hand-knotted area rugs for the mid- to high-end market.
"It's a state of the art showroom and the purpose of it is purely to show the vast array and the diverse qualities, collections, textures and looks that Exquisite Rugs carries," co-owner Hersel Bani-Esraili, who runs the family business alongside his brother Daniel Bani-Esraili, CFO, told RugNews.com. "We offer a very wide range of qualities and price points to service the medium- to higher-end markets, and having a nice size showroom with high ceilings and natural light puts us in a position to display each collection comfortably -- making it a very user-friendly, almost touch-less showroom.
The layout of the showroom allows visitors to see the entire swath of Exquisite Rugs' assortment easily, without hanging racks or stacks. "More and more people are visiting us on the West Coast and we wanted to be able to show, at a glance, the diversity we have," he said.
The new showroom's area rug displays make it simple for designers to see the entire range of Exquisite Rugs' hand-knot constructions, qualities and looks.
Bani-Esralli noted that during High Point Market, attendees preferred a more touch-less area rug presentation, and that buyers also appreciated being able to connect via virtual appointments. He added that the company is heavily stocked and introduced 12 new collections for 2020, despite the year's challenges. "Our new Tocayo, Rhodes and Plush collections have received tremendous response from our buyers."
Easy to see, touch-less area rug displays at Exquisite Rugs' new LA-area showroom are a boon during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We are faced with the same challenges everybody else has been ... traffic at High Point was slow. Business is unusual and it is very challenging but people can't live without us because our products are so unique," Bani-Esralli boasted, pointing out that throughout the COVID-19 crisis, the company has not furloughed or laid off staff, and remains heavily stocked. "We are very proud of that."
Formerly known as Orient Rugs Express, the company changed its name to Exquisite Rugs about 13 years ago. Originally based in London, the company is more than 80 years old and spans three generations.
