HANNOVER, Germany --A first in its 16 year history, the big winners of the DOMOTEX 2021 Carpet Design Awards were announced in a virtual ceremony, as a result of a cancelled January event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the virtual event on May 20, 2021, a total of nine designers and carpet entrepreneurs were honored with the prestigious industry award.

The Carpet Design Awards were presented in front of a large digital audience. The winners had previously been selected by a top-class jury of experts from the design and carpet industry. The award winners are considered exceptional examples in the industry that combine design, quality and craftmanship to a special degree.

With the new category "Best Emerging Designer", the Carpet Design Awards 2021 honored outstanding young designers for the first time together with the Scottish NGO Turquoise Mountain.

The coveted awards, presented for the 16th time in collaboration with the magazines COVER and HALI, have celebrated the best in contemporary carpet design for more than 15 years and reflect the industry's innovation and trends. Selection criteria included design and design concept, material, execution, structure and quality, as well as sustainability and branding.
