Jaipur Rugs debuts its flagship store in Milan.
MILAN -- Jaipur Rugs, a producer of handmade rugs headquartered in Rajasthan, India, has opened its first retail store in the design capital of the world, Milan, Italy.
The 1,722 square foot showroom, designed by Matteo Cibic, presents Jaipur's featured collections as a visual and tactile story highlighting its aesthetics and attention to craftsmanship techniques.
Jaipur's new Manchaha rug collection takes center state at the space in a special "vault" that showcases its handcrafted, one-of-a-kind Manchaha collection. Jaipur's Manchaha program is an initiative born as an experiment, which evolved to the current collection. Each rug is made entirely by weavers, starting from the design phase through final production. The project reflects the imagery of ancient rural India and reveals the hidden creativity of the artisans who become real designers, allowing everyone to express their individuality.
Designer Matteo Cibic, who designed Jaipur's contemporary Wunderkammer collection, conceived the Jaipur Rugs Milan store.
In addition, the Milan store also showcases the creativity of Kavi, design director of Jaipur Rugs and originator of the Manchaha collection.
Jaipur's Wunderkammer collection designed by Cibic is also displayed. That range offers a contemporary architectural view of India's city Jaipur.
"Milan is one of Italy's most fashionable cities, home to some of the world's major fashion brands. It's among the great Italian cities where you can find history, art and culture and Jaipur Rugs is proud and elated to be showcasing the rich heritage of rural India to the world," says Yogesh Chaudhary, director, Jaipur Rugs.
