KINNA, Sweden -- Swedish luxury rug atelier Kasthall updates its long-running Tekla collection rolling out a fresh color palette that celebrates tradition and renewal.

The additions add shades like the soft pastel pink of Cotton Candy, the rich, velvety purple of Ube Ice Cream, and the vibrant earthy tones of Matcha Latte. The textural Tekla was designed by Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg, Kasthall's lead designer for 28 years, between 1987 and 2015. Ullberg designed most of Kasthall's classic collections including Moss, Fogg, Häggå, and Tekla.

“I wanted it to be reminiscent of parties, candy, and confetti, and I feel that the thick wool yarn in combination with the bold colors creates a youthful, vigorous, and slightly rebellious vibe,” Gunilla, who has since passed away, once said.


Kasthall's Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg (1955-2015), who served as the company's lead designer for 28 years, between
1987 and 2015, designed the award-winning Tekla.

Since its introduction in 2007, Tekla became a top‐selling Kasthall lineup, and, in 2008, was award a Design S -- Swedish Design Award for its innovative blend of materials of felted wool, fine wool, and linen yarn, and its bold, imaginative use of color.

Hand-tufted in Kasthall's Kinna facility, Tekla is crafted from thick, felted wool and linen with a pile height of 40mm, for plush, inviting comfort. Available in eight color variations, including Cotton Candy, Ube Ice Cream, Vanilla Shake, Crème Brûlée, Matcha Latte, Mango Lassi, Blackberry Crumble, and Icy Caramel. Recommended sizes are 4.6' x 6.5', 5.5' x 7.8' , 6.5' x 8.1', x 11.5', 9.8' x 13', 11.5'x 14.7', and 7.8' round.
