DALTON, Ga. -- LR Resources announces the appointment of Gary W. Williams as account manager covering Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.

Williams, who reports to Mike Thompson, vice president, sales direct division/general manager, is a 43-year veteran of the flooring industry, including the Shaw Living Area Rugs Division. At last week's Atlanta International Area Rug Market, his first with LR Resources, Williams told RugNews.com, "This is a wonderful opportunity with an innovative and growing company selling so much more than area rugs."

At Atlanta Market, LR Resources showcased its rugs in its Building 1 showroom, and new Ox Bay Trading Co. line of decorative accessories at the showroom of manufacturer's rep agency Darrah & Co, and next week will show rugs and accents at Next Step Reps located in Building C, suite 891 at Las Vegas Market (read story).

Williams began his floor covering career in 1976 with Morris Tile Distributors in Norfolk, Virginia. After 22 years of working his way up from the warehouse to assistant manager, he accepted a position with Florida Tile, where he was a territory manager for five years.

He then joined Shaw Industries as territory manager in the Hard Surface division, and shortly after coming on board, he was promoted to a Hard Surface Region Manager with territory managers in VA, NC, DE, DC, MD and PA. After five years in this division, he joined the Shaw Living Area Rugs Division as an Area Rug Specialist, covering until 2013 when Shaw decided to exit the area rug industry.

Williams subsequently joined Beaulieu of America, where he was a territory manager. When Beaulieu closed in late 2017, he opened his own floor covering agency selling directly to the flooring dealers.
