Momeni rolled out its new Basics series of foundational pieces, including Hampton's outdoor-friendly tribal flatweaves crafted of synthetic fibers.
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Momeni's High Point Market showroom was open for business during market and showcased several notable introductions, including the debuting Momeni Basics program.
"This market was a good one for us," Reza Momeni told RugNews.com, noting that the company's pre-market attendance showed that demand is there -- and that retailers and consumers want fresh product. "We found the attendees to be serious about buying and we were able to get their individual reactions to our new products. We also found our showroom to be the ideal location to conduct Zoom calls with those buyers who could not attend."
For fall market, Momeni created digital options for buyers not attending High Point in person, including its first Virtual Market Tour and an October lookbook highlighting new area rug introductions.
Momeni launched several new collections and line extensions, but the major announcement at market was Momeni Basics, a foundational range with a $299 price point. Momeni Basics, designed to be a go-to series of textural easy to decorate with area rugs, proved one of the biggest hits of market. “It’s style at a value price,” said Tim Schantz, account executive.
The new Momeni Basics program's lustrous wool Beckton collection was a hit for its versatility and dense hand.
The collections launched as part of Basics include Beckton, Charles, Hamptons and James. Generating the most interest were the hand-loomed wool Beckton with hand-carving and an understated bordered style; the hand-tufted wool pile Charles, which reworks a classic herringbone look in trending neutrals, denim, gray, blue and taupe; and the indoor-outdoor Hamptons collection, inspired by classic Tuareg mats, in warm tones and flat-woven of polypropylene.
The roll out of Simba, a wool hand-tufted series with contemporary, tribal patterns worked in browns, dark blue and ivory, resonated with buyers. As did Momeni's playful line extension of its children's program, Lil Mo, with Snuggle, a range of soft, plushy die-cut scatter rugs made of polyester with thickly fringed borders in shapes including a heart, cactus, cloud and moon.
The hand-made Boulder collection of wool and cotton rugs offers a value riff on the company's successful Moroccan-styled Atlas collection. Bristol, hand-woven of polyester and cotton, features a high-low design and a fringe. And the company’s Cambridge collection is updated with new machine-made designs of viscose and polyester in distressed classic motifs.
"There isn’t a single category that hasn’t had incredible sales," said Momeni. "Consumers have begun to place higher value upon the items they bring into their home. The more time spent in our homes the more we appreciate the things we love, and want to fix or change those we don’t. To that end, customers are looking for beautiful pieces that will last and they are willing to spend more in order to obtain not just what they want, but pieces whose value justifies the price tag."
