The indoor-outdoor Palma collection by Spanish rug design studio NOW Carpets is a flooring winner illustrating the hospitality market's appetite for function, aesthetics and innovation.
NEW YORK -- At the hospitality design-focused BDNY held earlier this month at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, flooring products from Trinity Surfaces, Florim, and NOW Carpets were recognized for functional and aesthetic progress as well as innovation.
The Best of BDNY Product Design Competition, which honors winners and finalists in 12 product categories, named Trinity Surfaces winner in the flooring category for its hard surface Marc Thee Water Jet Collection of by Audrey Lane. Florim was a finalist for its B&W _ Marble (porcelain stone) and finalist NOW Carpets won for the indoor outdoor Palma collection.
The NOW Carpets booth at the 2019 BDNY was devoted to the new Palma indoor outdoor rug collection with applications for rooms, suites and outdoor hospitality settings.
Based in Zaragoza, Spain, and with offices in New York City, Now Carpets offers the polypropylene rugs in a selection of colors plus custom for hospitality, and showcases various woven designs in outdoor hospitality settings as well as guest rooms. On its website, Now Carpets highlights installations at prestigious venues including the Dubai Palm Hotel, Radisson Blu Budapest, W Muscat Hotel, Mercer Sevilla G.L., and Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, among others.
The honor signals the growing importance of the indoor-outdoor rug category for manufacturers' strides in combining performance and style in commercial as well as residential installations.
Winners were selected by a jury of design professionals. Judges included Floss Barber, CEO, Floss Barber Inc.; Gary Inman, vice president, hospitality, Baskervill; Stefani Putt, senior manager, interior design, NBC Universal Creative International; and Amanda Jackson, managing director - Dallas, Hospitality Design Guild.
The Palma collection by NOW Carpets is shown in a "resi-mercial" outdoor setting that could represent a consumer's backyard or a hotel patio.
