Packed with innovation, Orian's Illusions collection debuts with abstract designs, a soft finish, metallic-inflected look and dimensional texture from a combination of shiny translucent and dull polypropylene yarns. Shown, Illusions Alamar.
NEW YORK -- Buyers shopping Orian at the fall 2019 New York Home Fashions Market will get a first look at the debuting Illusions collection, set for official launch at next month's High Point Market. In addition, Orian is showcasing newly released area rug constructions, designs and color palettes.
Orian, which celebrated its 40th anniversary and announced an aggressive growth strategy, has been rolling out new constructions that are plush and soft and feature the today's most popular designs in trending color palettes. The latest introductions include Riverstone and Nirvana, both of which debuted earlier this year, now followed by the brand-new Illusions. What's more, Orian has expanded its two best-selling collections, Aria and Adagio with new color creels.
New textures on display at the Palmetto Living by Orian showroom in Las Vegas last month offered a sneak peek before NY Home Fashions Market roll outs. Shown, Coastal Pier from Adagio on the floor, and from left on the feature wall: City Blocks from Adagio, Pinnacle from the Riverstone collection, and Havenwood from the new Nirvana range.
ILLUSIONS NEW YORK INTRODUCTION
A detail from an abstract design illustrates the soft texture and metallic-like luster of the new Illusions collection by Orian.
This week Orian is giving big box customers and national chains a first look at Illusions, a collection that utilizes an entirely different yarn system featuring varying yarn thicknesses. The natural properties of polypropylene -- namely the almost-metallic luster effect of untreated polypropylene -- are also incorporated into this new construction.
"You may have seen a trend in the market where there's differentiation in dull and shiny yarns, pile heights, and high-low texture using shrink," Brandon Culpepper, Orian's chief revenue officer, told RugNews.com. "There's a lot of that going on in the market right now. We have been working for a long time on figuring out how to bring that look to market in what we do. Illusions is a multi-textured product. It's heavy. It's an extremely high-quality, multi-textured, woven rug," he explained. "Illusions will be our big introduction for fall. It's a totally new yarn system. Everything about it is different," Culpepper said.

RIVERSTONE AND NIRVANA
The Pinnacle Cloud Grey area rug from the Riverstone collection from Palmetto Living by Orian features an ivory diamond pattern.
New for 2019, "Riverstone and Nirvana are really coming into their own," Culpepper reported. Nirvana, a shag collection, is the heaviest product Orian has ever made. Meanwhile, Riverstone, a 16mm high-pile rug, also dense, has a more traditional woven look and is crafted of a super-soft polypropylene yarn that the company has been working to develop. "It's the softest yarn we've come up with yet."
Rolling out a variety of new products has been a mission for Palmetto Living by Orian over the past year, and Culpepper said the company is now monitoring those recent introductions to see what's working. Two very successful new lines, Riverstone and Nirvana are woven with the same yarn system. "They each have different colors and construction, but the same yarn system," he said.
Nirvana by Palmetto Living offers a series of dense abstract shag designs.
ADDING TO BEST SELLING ARIA & ADAGIO
Orian's summer/fall 2019 debuts include adding new blue, gray and muted green color combinations to its two best-selling collections, Adagio and Aria. Both feature the same plush, dense textured construction made of 100 percent polypropylene domestically, with Aria sporting more traditional designs and Adagio more contemporary styling.

The top-selling contemporary Adagio collection adds a new green-toned color to its range. Shown, Arrowhead in thatch green.
