SECAUCUS, N.J. – The newest exhibitor at the 2024 edition of The Rug Show, Rug & Kilim, will unveil new designs and curated antique carpets at The Rug Show, running Sept. 7-9, 2024, at the Meadowlands Exposition Center.

The upscale New York City-based studio will present its Moroccan collection, which includes both rare antique and vintage rugs as well as contemporary works, the Burano collection inspired by some of the most special rugs of many periods, the popular Tiger Collection, and its renowned Scandinavian collection of flatweave and pile rugs, all designer favorites.

“We love being around colleagues and are so excited to see friends at the upcoming Rug Show," said Jahanshah "Josh" Nazmiyal, principal at Rug & Kilim. “We will be showing more French and Chinese deco in addition to our ever growing and successful collection of Scandinavian rugs, which now holds over 1,000 SKUs in eight different qualities.

“We will also be including a collection of wonderful graphic vintage Moroccan pieces,” Nazmiyal explained. “Every classic Moroccan rug we curate exemplifies the uniquely personal charm in hand-knotted primitivist rugs of the Berber weavers and their descendants.”

Moroccan Collection

From a striking collection of Moroccan rugs, Rug & Kilim offers the vintage SKU-32332 in bold orange colorway.

The Moroccan assortment runs from Azilal to Beni Ourain, Boucherouite rugs, Boujad, Beni Mguild rugs, and even collectible Tuareg mats. On show will be classic antique and vintage designs, as well as the company’s modern take on these styles, with bold color and size variations and custom capability.

Burano Collection

The Burano collection evokes beloved classics with an option for customization by the client. Shown, SKU-27523

Designer Josh Namizyal’s Burano collection is inspired by what he considers some of the most special rugs of many periods. “Each piece enjoys a rich antique brown warp for an added dimension and patina that plays beautifully and naturally with any design,” he said, noting that the range of designs is influenced by his long-time admiration for Oriental-style rugs made with European sensibilities throughout history, and the unique hand-knotted rugs and kilims resulting from this cultural exchange.

Tiger Collection

From the Distressed Homage collection in contemporary neutral palette is SKU-31212

Also on show will be Tiger rugs in various weaves and pile heights, a modern-day homage to a time-honored pictorial style, included the popular Distressed Homage collection.

Scandinavian Collection

“Our technique in hand-weaving Scandinavian rugs and kilims honors the women weavers, artisans, and pioneers of the movement by preserving the soul of this style and adapting it for the high-end designer rug market today,” Nazmiyal says.

The R&K design team has spent years studying, reinterpreting and even refining the weaving process to best represent this style in a more accessible modern way. “Our take on Scandinavian rugs includes adapting their geometric patterns to large sizes, new textures, a wider range of colors, and a more refined, yet comfortable fashion that still speaks to their intentions,” he explains. On show will be a variety of weaves, yarns and fibers including a new indoor-outdoor range in performance polyester.
