Spotted: High Point Market Area Rug People & Parties

While parties and events have yet to bounce back to pre-pandemic levels, there were plenty of opportunities to rub elbows, raise a toast, and check out panel presentations by top designers.

High Point Market sees the return of area rug parties and events.
 
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The energy was back at the fall 2021 edition of High Point Market, with area rug companies welcoming retailers and designers to showrooms throughout the show’s sprawling campus.

And while pared down in comparison to pre-pandemic High Point parties, meet and greets and showroom panel presentations, the events held proved successful in drawing customers, albeit in smaller numbers.

In this exclusive photo roundup, RugNews.com brings you a glimpse of area rug happenings, retailer and designer sightings at a dozen showrooms.

CAPEL RUGS


On Monday, October 18, Capel customers celebrated the 90th birthday of A. Leon (Len) Capel Jr., retired second-
generation company leader, with cake and champagne. Len Capel, center, with his daughter Cameron Capel, right, and

At Capel Rugs’ "Coffee and Cocktails with COCO" on Sunday, October 17, guest got to meet Colette Shelton, commonly
known as "COCO" from COCOCOZY, and view the latest designs in the long running licensing collaboration. Above,

FEIZY


Feizy hosted a meet and greet with celebrity designer and licensing partner Thom Filicia following a ribbon cutting
ceremony at the company’s new Showplace showroom. Standing in front of the Thom Filicia Home collection for Feizy

HAROUNIAN RUGS INTERNATIONAL (HRI)


HRI’s new High Point showroom was buzzing with retail and designer customers helping the company celebrate its
ribbon cutting for the large new space in IHFC’s Design Center Wing.


JAIPUR LIVING


On Sunday, October 17 designer Jennifer Levy interviewed Sasha Wallace, right, on Jaipur Living's holistic philosophy
of sustainability and how their initiatives improve the lives of the communities they impact. The duo also discussed
what designers should look for in assessing the sustainability of a vendor and the importance of understanding the
full narrative of the products we use and the people who make them. The event, entitled Weaving Together Social
Impact and Sustainability, was held at Center Stage in the Commerce Concourse.


KALEEN


Monty Rathi, Kaleen COO and TV celebrity designer Hilary Farr at the High Point Market launch of two new collections
from Hilary Farr Designs: Sterling Impressions, shown, and the sustainable Natural Jute range.



Known for hosting the hit HGTV series Bargain Mansions, retailer/designer Tamara Day, has been using Kaleen rugs
exclusively on shows for last three years. She is here (far right) working with Kaleen’s Brian Brigham, far left, Monty
Rathi and Prachi Gupta.


KARASTAN


Karastan feted its new collaboration with designer Stacy Garcia posing here with Mike Riley of Mohawk Home at the
grand opening party for Karastan’s expansive 22,000 square foot showroom in IHFC on October 17.



The opening night cocktail party/reception for Karastan customers featured a step-and-repeat photo op with celebrity
designer Bobby Berk (left) shown here with Mohawk Home’s Tracy Pruitt, vice president of design.


LOLOI


Loloi celebrated its a new collaboration with Amber Lewis, founder and principal designer at Los Angeles-based
Amber Interiors Design Studio with a book signing for customers at the rug company’s IHFC Design Center showroom.



Husband and wife interior design duo Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller, the principals of New York’s Carrier and Company
