LONDON -- The Rug Company adds a new collection in collaboration with fashion-label Alexander McQueen called Metamorphosis, a range of five new hand-knotted rugs of silk, or a blend of Tibetan wool and silk, inspired by the couturier's original Metamorphosis ready-to-wear collection

"Since our first collaboration in 2010, each collection between The Rug Company and Alexander McQueen has been bound by an appreciation of nature and its magical ability," the company stated. "Metamorphosis is no different, exploring themes of folklore, wishing trees and the importance of restoration and renewal."

Inspired by Alexander McQueen's original Metamorphosis 2018 ready-to-wear collection, its Glasswings, Beetle and
Painted Lady designs get recast for the floor in a sophisticated new area rug collection by The Rug Company.

The House of Alexander McQueen is recognized for shattering convention and famed for high-drama, and the latest area rugs developed under the creative direction of McQueen’s Sarah Burton make no exception to the brand's groundbreaking history, while bringing Burton's affinity for the natural world into the mix.

An iconic motif of Alexander McQueen's 2018 ready-to-wear collection, the new Painted Lady rug is hand-knotted of Tibetan wool and silk..

Says Burton, creative director, Alexander McQueen, “I am delighted to be part of this collaboration which represents the shared values of a love of nature and respect for tradition, handcraft and innovation.

"The mesmerizing and enchanting patterns of our previous designs delved into themes surrounding pagan tradition and bohemian energy. Defined by growth and renewal, our new collection Metamorphosis highlights this essence, while offering a transformation inspired by a sense of the transcendental," she said.
