NEW YORK -- Trans-Ocean has been acquired by home textiles purveyor Lush Decor and buyers attending New York Home Fashions Market (March 17-20) were the first to be introduced to Lush Decor's first area rugs.

Lush Decor, which is presenting its lineup in a temporary showroom located at 15 W. 28th St., 8th floor, had been seeking to expand its product assortment and found that the area rug category offered synergistic opportunities.

“Bringing Trans-Ocean into the Lush Decor family is a natural next step in our mission to provide thoughtfully designed, high-quality home decor," Jenny Jing Zhu, who founded the East Brunswick, New Jersey, company in 2008, told RugNews.com. "Lush Decor has long been known for its top-of-bed collections, window treatments, and bath textiles, and adding rugs to our assortment allows us to offer a complete design solution.

“This acquisition is about more than just business growth—it’s about creative synergy and delivering a more complete and inspiring shopping experience for our customers," Zhu continued. "Our expertise in e-commerce and digital growth pairs seamlessly with Trans-Ocean’s strong presence in brick-and-mortar retail, catalogs and gift stores. Together, we can strengthen our retail partnerships, expand our product offerings, and bring innovative home decor solutions to a wider audience. We are also thrilled that Liora Manne will continue designing rugs for Trans-Ocean and look forward to exploring opportunities for her to extend her artistry into additional categories.

Adds Manne, "The idea is that Trans-Ocean will continue to operate independently, and staff will remain the same." She noted that she is excited about the opportunity to develop new rugs exclusively for Lush Decor, in addition to growing the Trans-Ocean franchise, and that Charles Peck, her husband, will continue to manage the company's operations. (Manne's eponymous Lamontage design studio was not included in the sale and will continue to operate independently.)

Trans-Ocean's Hana collection's Abstract Natural design, tufted of pure undyed wool, was part of a Lush Decor vignette
featuring its Plantopia collection.

Trans-Ocean will continue to present its product line at Atlanta, High Point and Las Vegas markets, where the company maintains showrooms.

"Rugs are the artistic foundation of a room — they tie everything together, elevate the aesthetic, and create a sense of warmth and comfort,” noted Zhu.
