ALL SHAW NYLON AREA
RUGS NOW RECYCLABLE

DALTON, GA - Shaw's nylon area rugs are now all recyclable, due to advances in technology and Shaw's Evergreen Nylon Recycling facility in Augusta, GA.  According to the company, Shaw introduced the first recyclable rugs to the industry in July 2007 with the Premiere and Natural Expression collections.

"Shaw is excited and proud to announce that all of our nylon area rugs are recyclable, which means half of all Shaw area rugs are now recyclable. These rugs allow the consumer to make an easy eco-friendly choice for her home, without sacrificing style, color or convenience,€VbCrLf said Kimberly Barta, Shaw Living's brand manager. "Additionally, the consumer doesn't have to pay more for the recyclable area rugs. It's a simple, feel-good selection for the consumer.€VbCrLf

The nylon rugs are recycled in a closed-loop process based on the philosophy of cradle-to-cradle recycling, Shaw explained. Cradle to cradle is the process of taking a product after its useful life, breaking it down into its raw building blocks and rebuilding the same product over and over again without the loss of performance or aesthetic qualities. Shaw recycles in this cradle-to-cradle model at the Evergreen Nylon Recycling Facility by breaking down Type 6 nylon rugs into its original material, called caprolactam, and rebuilding it into virgin-like nylon.

When the consumer wishes to dispose of his or her Shaw nylon rug, a product identification label on the area rug directs the person to the website www.Shawfloors.com/recycle to locate the nearest carpet collection site.  The label also explains Shaw's environmental story.

Machine woven, tufted and printed nylon rugs are included in the recyclable offerings. Recyclable nylon rugs are available in Shaw's designer collections including Kathy Ireland First Lady, Kathy Ireland Young Attitudes, Tommy Bahama, Jack Nicklaus, Mary-Kate and Ashley, Antiquities, Renaissance, Modernworks and other collections.
