MOHAWK HOME EXPANDS COLLABORATION WITH PATINA VIE TO E-COMMERCE CHANNEL

After rolling out the inaugural Patina Vie license with Karastan earlier this year, Mohawk Home grows the collaboration, adding a more affordable line available online only. Shown, Mohawk Home Studio Cloisters Turquoise by Patina Vie.

CALHOUN, Ga. -- Following the success of the new Patina Vie license launched earlier this year with Karastan, Mohawk Home expands the range offering a more affordable, online only selection of vintage-inspired looks created by the popular design studio.

"We have had huge success with Patina Vie in developing glamorous, luxury Karastan rugs using SmartStrand Silk, viscose and New Zealand wool. Sarah Willet [the founder of Patina Vie] is brilliant to work with and has such vision," Bart Hill, senior vice president of product development and operations for Mohawk Home, told RugNews.com in an exclusive interview. "We naturally wanted to expand our product offering online to customers that may not be ready to invest in a Karastan rug, but love the Patina Vie brand and trust in Mohawk Home to produce a stylish, quality rug at an affordable price point."

The Mohawk Home Studio by Patina Vie area rug collection will be available online only, and already a few styles are available at Overstock and Wayfair. "In the next month, we expect the full collection to be live at major online retailers where Mohawk Home products are currently sold. This includes but is not limited to: Wayfair, Overstock, Amazon, Hayneedle, Houzz, Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot and Lowes," Hill added.

The new Mohawk Home range, machine woven in the U.S. of Mohawk's EverStrand, a premium polyester yarn made from recycled plastic water bottles, includes eight transitional designs, with two-four colorways apiece. The palette includes a range of popular, on-trend hues such as blush pink, deep indigo, lavender, coral, aqua, saffron and gunmetal gray, paired with warm, earthy neutrals.

"Much like the Karastan collaboration with Patina Vie, this collection has some traditional elements like the French damask, Baroque frame border and intricate floral patterns, blended with more trendy details such as distressing and subtle pattern overlays," he elaborated. "The rugs are crafted using a color erosion technique that creates a slightly imperfect aesthetic, giving them more of a vintage feel."

Karastan unveiled its partnership with Patina Vie, a lifestyle brand spearheaded by Sarah Willett and based in Wisconsin, in Atlanta earlier this year (read full story). Patina Vie takes cues from vintage and repurposed products to create updated traditional looks and the Karastan's Patina Vie offering includes about 150 SKUs, and are part of two of Karastan's collections: its Titanium line of transitional wool area rugs, and Cosmopolitan, which is a line of rugs made of SmartStrand, Karastan's synthetic fiber. Both are machine made.
