HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Responding to growing demand for luxurious wool rugs in creative hand-tufted and hand knotted constructions, Capel Rugs is debuting an assortment of dynamic, high-value designs at the spring High Point Market being held April 26-30.
“We continue to add fresh colors and designs to our hand tufted assortment,” said Cameron Capel, president – sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. “Our hand-tufts offer a winning mix of fabulous quality and attractive pricing. In addition, our entry-level hand knotted collections also have been on fire!”
Leading off Capel Rugs’ introductions this market are two new hand-tufted collections – Mesa and Persia. Mesa, a contemporary geometric collection, features a lively mix of squares, curvilinear shapes and bold lines. Part of the Capel Conserve collection of eco-friendly designs, Mesa is made of 100 percent all-natural undyed wool with a palette of calming, organic colors and a looped pile. Three color ways and patterns are available – limestone, sandstone and shale – along with four sizes – a 2’6” x 8’ runner, 5x8, 7’ 9” x 9’9” and 9x12. A 5x8 rug may retail for $449.
Persia, also in 100 percent hand-tufted wool, features two classic Oriental patterns – Keshan and Mahal – in a wide range of colorways. Keshan offers six choices – green/gold, gray/beige, black/ivory, navy/taupe, red/navy and ivory. Mahal is available in six colorways that include green, onyx, gray, navy, red and ivory.
For both collections, six sizes are offered, including a 2’6’ x 8’ runner, 3’6” x 5’6”, 5x8 ’, 7’9” x 9’9”, 9x12 and 10x14. A 5x8 rug may retail for $599.
In the hand-knotted category, Capel Rugs’ latest introductions include Ashford, an elevated traditional design made in India of 100 percent wool, with intricate details and trending color palettes. Sporting an Oriental-inspired pattern that will stand the test of time, Ashford features three color ways – jade, lapis and multi, and five sizes – 3’6” x 5’6”, 5’6” x 8’6”, 7’6” x 9’6”, 8’6” x 11’6” and 9’6” x 13’6”. A 5’6” x 8’6” size may retail for $2,199.
“Ashford is an excellent selection for transitional or traditional rooms with classic motifs and rich colors,” Capel said.

Capel Rugs also is adding two other new collections in the hand-knotted category – Barclay and Vestige. Both collections are handmade in India of 100 percent wool yarns (a blend of New Zealand and Indian wool).
Barclay showcases a multi colorway with an ombré effect that transitions seamlessly between rich amber and deep teal tones. Barclay’s pile has a soft, luxurious feel underfoot while providing excellent resilience.
Vestige offers a timeless styling with its traditional, Oriental-inspired design in three colorways – eucalyptus, indigo and ecru. Featuring subtle vintage motifs and soft, muted colors, each rug offer intricate, timeworn patterns.
Sizes include 5’ x 8’, 7’6” x 9’6” and 9’ x 12’. A 5’ x 8’ model may retail for $1,449.
“The name ‘Vestige’ refers to a trace or remnant of something from the past, perfectly capturing the essence of this collection,” Capel said. “The collection’s refined craftsmanship and antique-inspired design make it an ideal choice for those seeking a sophisticated, heirloom-quality piece that brings lasting beauty to any modern space.”
Also expected to draw strong interest among retailers and designers this market is York, available in two classic designs. Hand-loomed in India using undyed, all-natural wool, this collection radiates authenticity and an antique-inspired appeal. This design also is fully reversible, offering exceptional versatility and extended durability.
Marble, a subtle, organic pattern reminiscent of veined stone, offers a serene and refined aesthetic. Antique, a nod to heritage weaving techniques, features intricate traditional motifs that echo the grandeur of antique rug designs.
Both collections are available in a variety of natural colors that are subtle and brilliantly blended to create the details in the designs. Antique includes two colorways – charcoal and beige. Marble offers three choices – charcoal, beige and brown. Each collection comes in 5x8, 7’6” x 9’6” and 9x12 sizes. As an all-natural undyed wool collection, York is part of the eco-friendly Capel Conserve line. A 5x8 rug may retail for $799.
“Perfectly suited for both classic and contemporary spaces, the York collection combines tradition and understated sophistication,” Cameron Capel said.
This market, Capel Rugs also is adding new colors and designs to its popular Charise collection in 100 percent wool. The new color ways are Maya Seafoam, Pari Scarlett and Pavan Mocha Royale.
An upscale, hand-knotted traditional collection from India, Charise features an assortment of classic motifs updated for today’s lifestyles in a fresh, appealing mix of space-dyed colors. The collection is available in 3x5, 5x8, 8’ x 10’, 9x12 and 10x14 sizes, as well as a 2’6” x 9’ runner. A 5x8 rug may retail for $1,899.

To encourage customers to place orders at market, Capel Rugs is offering a special “draw for your discount” promotion. The discounts range from 10 percent-50 percent off the standard price of all new rugs, with a minimum purchase required.
The company also will be serving its signature frozen Frosé cocktail each day during market. And from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, through Tuesday, April 29, Capel Rugs will be holding its Rugs & Revelry socials, featuring artisanal charcuterie, handcrafted cocktails and live music.
Capel is bullish on the prospects for an uptick in business this year. “We are not there yet, but I remain positive. I expect things to settle down, along with the tariffs, creating a positive economic climate that will lead to a rise in consumer spending on furnishings, including rugs,” says Capel.
Capel Rugs’ High Point showroom is located at 200 N. Hamilton St., South Court, in High Point’s Design District.
