HIGH POINT, N.C.-- Rug vendors heading to High Point Market's fall 2019 edition are optimistic about the show's prospects.
In fact, High Point has become an essential market for many area rug vendors and is attracting a slew of new entrants. So not only are two rug company's hosting ribbon-cutting ceremonies during market (American Cover Design, IHFC G263, and Samad, MST 115); there are 15 new rug brands participating in this North Carolina home fashions outpost, including Aminco Home, Barrier Island Rugs and Zuiver. What's more, a number of area rug showrooms are relocating or expand to grow their presence at the semi-annual fair.
"We're adding nearly 950 square feet to our showroom at High Point, bringing the entire space to just under 8,350 square feet," said Jaipur Living's Karen Waygood. "We are using the space for our new Living Lounge -- a place our customers can come to refresh themselves and rejuvenate during the bustling High Point Market."
Noted, Ramin Kalaty, president of Kalaty, which returned to High Point after a break of several years: "We are enjoying a very good year, and High Point has definitely contributed to this success.
"We celebrated our grand opening return to High Point this past April. And, for the October market, we've chosen to present more new product than we have ever shown at past High Point markets."
High Point has become an important event where area rug players announce some of their biggest news of the year. For example, new license partner collaborations are often presented at this market and the fall 2019 proves no exception, with several companies boasting new licensed programs. Kaleen and Hilary Farr are rolling out the TV celebs first line of rugs during market week; Creative Touch highlights its latest partnership with architect Robin Gray; and French Accents Rugs showcases its new program with Milanese designer Elena Caponi. While Harounian Rugs International (HRI) celebrates the launch of its new innovative Sunbrella range of rugs.
And that doesn't count the hordes of new introductions that push the limits of fiber technology and design. For example, Jaipur Living introduces 70 new rugs; Karastan rolls out four new constructions and showcases a glamorous rose gold color option; and Feizy adds to not only to its fine hand-knotted collections with the Carrington range of traditional oushak designs, but also grows its machine-made offering rolling out the high-low designs of Colton, power-loomed with micro-polyester pile, and adds plenty in between.
In Part 1 of RugNews.com's Buyers' Guide to High Point Market we cover 20-plus new products for market. And, we continue the coverage in Part 2, where we preview the designs from companies from Liora Manne for Trans-Ocean to Zuiver.
