SECAUCUS, N.J. -- The 2023 edition of The Rug Show, running from Sept. 9-11 at the Meadowlands Expo Center, features 25 rug brands and includes several new area rug exhibitors who join the New Jersey event.

Among the newcomers at the 2023 Rug Show are Arsin Rug Gallery, Kalaty, Liberty Rugs, Momeni, Palladium Rugs, Royal Antique, Soheil Oriental Rugs, Turkmen Rug and Turquoise Mountain.

They join returning exhibitors: Afghan Bazar Rugs, Alpine Rug, Andkhuy Rugs, Anwar Rugs, Art Resources, Kehkashan Rugs, Neman International, Palazzo Carpets, S&H Rugs, Sam Shamoulian, Shalom Brothers, Soheil Oriental Rugs, Turkish Carpets and
Turkish Rug Co.

Momeni Rugs returns to TRS making its New Jersey debut. The Carlstadt-based area rug company will bring an assortment of fine-quality rugs from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and India.

"We're thrilled to join the Rug Show in New Jersey: it's close to home, less than 10 minutes from our headquarters," Reza Momeni, president and CEO, told RugNews.com. "Our customers can expect a diverse array of one-of-a-kinds at various prices. This comes at the perfect time, as our high selling season approaches. We are happy to be participating this fall," says Aria Momeni, executive vice president.

Momeni will only present its one-of-a-kind rugs, which are curated in a range of styles from tribal, traditional, and transitional to contemporary. The selection includes vintage, antique and one-of-a-kind new rugs. In addition, Momeni will include its sample display that features its running line.

Kalaty, like Momeni, will return to The Rug Show participating in the N.J. event for the first time. The company, known for its artisan hand-knotted rugs, will showcase modern and updated traditional designs in a range of fashion-chic colorways. Alongside the hand-crafted pieces, the company will also include many examples from the popular-priced K-TWO series of open-distribution collections, including its collaboration with artist Katie Merz. Highlights include Kalaty's softly colored “new-traditional” Magnolia collection of classic Oushak inspirations, hand-knotted using 100 percent premium hand-spun wool yarns and sheared to a low pile. Also on show are its latest boldly colored tribal and southwestern styles from the reversible flatweave Soumak Chroma collection, hand-knotted in a Soumak weave using 100 percent premium wool yarns. As a counter point, Kalaty will feature modern abstract pieces from the Tibetan-weave Orion collection, hand-knotted using premium wool and Silkette yarns and finished with intricate hand-carving.

“The Rug Show with its strong following has become important within our industry, and we are honored to be a part of it this year,” Ariel Kalaty, a company spokesman, said. “We want to ensure that The Rug Show’s customers are able to see, touch and experience our legendary artisanal craftsmanship, our attention to detail, our creative usage of color, as well as the many luxurious textures to be found among our contemporary abstracts and high-energy graphic patterns, the modern color palettes found in our updated-traditional styles as well as our innovative transitional looks in tone-on-tone neutral and natural hues.”

The metro-Atlanta based Liberty Rugs makes its Rug Show debut at the 2023 event. The company specializes in a variety of area rugs including traditional, transitional, modern, and vintage designs that are either hand-loomed, hand-knotted, or flatwoven. Among the company's TRS highlights are some of its modern designs, including its ABCL collection 05, which offers a vintage-style global diamond design; Cortes collection design 2036, a classic all-over diamond motif; and the hand-knotted Andonia lineup, with Oushak-inpired looks, including 1446-A.

"We are excited to make our first appearance at this fall's show," said Jim Rash. "We're definitely looking forward to meeting dealers from all over the US."

Turquoise Mountain, a non-governmental organization founded in Afghanistan in 2006 by His Majesty King Charles III to revive historic areas and traditional crafts, and to provide jobs and skills, also returns to The Rug Show after a hiatus. The organization will bring 30 new carpet designs.

Highlights include: Bakshaish, a traditional design part of the Turquoise Mountain Classic collection. The range is inspired by heritage Afghan rugs, hand-knotted by talented weavers supported by Turquoise Mountain in Afghanistan. Each rug is made to order and available in Ghazni wool. Lavar, from the Arzu collection, designed from the Arzu Studio Hope archive, is hand-knotted in Afghanistan, and is made to order in Ghazni wool. Finally, Manzil Night, a transitional design from the Herati series, is inspired by 15th-century miniature paintings from the Afghan city of Herat. This collection offers a contemporary take on traditional motifs. Also hand-knotted in Ghazni wool in Afghanistan, each Herat rug is made to order.

These show newcomers join more than a dozen returning exhibitors such as S&H Rugs, which has a permanent showroom nearby. The company is featuring its antique selections, fashion-driven handmade one-of-a-kind rugs, as well as exclusive program lines. "The NY/NJ metro area is the largest Oriental rug market of vendors, dealers, manufacturers, designers, and wholesalers," said Ori Wilbush, founder. "At this show you can find the largest up-to-date inventories of hand-knotted rugs from around the globe."

S&H Rugs, known for its expansive inventory and customer service, will highlight  an antique Chinese Peking hand-knotted piece with butterflies in mint condition (SH87402); and design SH73248 in gray, which is a hand-knotted finer Peshawar featuring a colorful Mahal design. Finally, for buyers looking for sophisticated neutral pieces, S&H introduces its new Cord collection, a handwoven textural collection in platinum gray or winter white. These flatweave rugs feature a high and low pile.
