Dennis Dodds, left, organizer of the New York International Carpet Show, with these Russian rug specialists: Sergey Noshnin, from the Moscow Marketing office of Siberian Carpet Factory; and Elizaveta Kondratyeva and daughter Anna Kondratyeva of Siberian Carpet Factory, headquartered in Tyumen, Russia, 2,000 miles east of Moscow.  Sergey has offered to write an article for Rugnews.com about the state of the rug business in Russia.

Mary Lynne Landgraf and Noor Alam from the US Department of Commerce Afghanistan Reconstruction Task Force were at the show to further the education of US rug people on the need to support the Afghan carpet industry.

Peace on Earth: Raffi Megerian, a principal of Megerian,  a native of Armenia, and Alp Basdogan, president of Asia Minor Carpets, who comes from Turkey, say that the bonds of friendship within the rug industry are stronger than traditional rivalries between the two countries. By the way, their private conversation was conducted in Turkish.
