COLES CELEBRATES 60TH ANNIVERSARY

SAN DIEGO -- Coles Fine Flooring recently celebrated its 60th Anniversary with champagne and an open house at the company's flagship superstore in San Diego.

Coles was founded in 1947 by Hubert Coles after he was discharged from the Navy. Coles of La Jolla Complete Home Furnishings quickly gained a reputation as one of the finest home furnishings stores in the area. Sons George , now president, and Steve, now vice president, joined the family business in 1972.

In 1965, the company  moved to a 10,000 sq. ft. store in San Diego, specializing in floor covering and draperies. The company's flagship store in San Diego is now a 40,000 sq. ft. floor covering superstore.

In 1980, Coles opened its first branch store, in San Marcos, CA. In 1990, the company built a 17,000 sq. ft. warehouse and superstore showroom in San Marcos.

Coles opened another branch location in El Cajon, CA in 1996.  In 2003, the company added a location in the Cedros Design District of Solana Beach, CA, to serve the San Diego county designer community.

Coles is known for its innovative approach to advertising and its commitment to customer service. In 1992, the company launched its One Year Satisfaction Guarantee to reflect the company's commitment to customer service. 

In 1999, the corporate name became  Coles Carpets & Fine Flooring, indicating the company's expertise in all types of floor covering, including carpets and rugs, fine Oriental rugs, wood, laminate, resilient and ceramic floors.
