MILAN -- Italian contemporary area rug studio CC-Tapis, known for its collaborations with leading designers and architects, introduces its first collection in collaboration with Argentine designer Cristian Mohaded.

The collection, which explores the visual displacement of volume, features designs that toy with their own boundaries, breaking traditional shapes and responding to the objects around them.

CC-Tapis has become a source for cutting-edge contemporary hand-knotted rugs created in Nepal by expert Tibetan artisans, and the collaboration with Mohaded, a designer and artist whose work explores the connection between craftsmanship and design, includes three hand-knotted rugs.

"My profession is that of a designer, but my interests have always been artistic," the designer said. "Today the boundaries between the two are blurred. I have a good handle on hybrid creative languages that intersect and mix. I am an artist with a designer’s ideas, and an artist with the tools of a designer.

"Just over 10 years ago I began researching for the link between design and crafts in my country, design being the tool that can bring about significant change in the field of crafts," Mohaded continued. "And Fuga, my first collaboration with the brand, is about energy that expands in the fabric through each of its knot. I was curious about the movement, the flow, the dynamic energy that can be created when borders become blurred, or rather when borders are broken."
