TAYLORSVILLE, N.C.  -- Following the brand’s acquisition by Surya Inc. in late 2023, storied American furniture company Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is reintroducing itself to the design community with iconic favorites, heirloom quality, and new fabric and leather options to expand the brand’s full customization capabilities, now available exclusively to trade professionals. MG+BW’s grand relaunch includes an upgraded digital experience for designers on mgbw.com, and a new showroom, IHFC G265, at the fall 2024 High Point Market, Oct. 26-30.

New Leadership, New Vision, Same Iconic Craftsmanship

“We are thrilled to relaunch this iconic brand with a fresh perspective while preserving the craftsmanship, quality and design excellence that originally made MG+BW a favored choice for designers,” says Satya Tiwari, president of Surya Inc. “Interior designers are the heartbeat of our industry, and our goal is to help them realize their vision by simplifying furniture sourcing and customization, enabling greater creative exploration to satisfy the unique needs of each client."

Among the offerings now available on mgbw.com are customizable upholstery—such as sofas, sectionals, and chairs in countless colors, beautiful new patterns and premium fabrics and leathers—as well as case goods in a wide range of finishes and hardware options. All upholstered pieces are meticulously made by hand at the original MG+BW factory in Taylorsville.

“Our furniture is handmade,” says MG+BW co-founder and current advisor Mitchell Gold. “There are a lot of skilled hands that touch each product before it leaves the factory, from quality checking to the actual making of the products. There’s a human being that sews all the pieces of fabric; there are human beings that put the furniture together. And that’s what makes a beautiful, quality piece of furniture.”

MG+BW’s original manufacturing and distribution facilities have resumed operations, with many skilled craftspeople from the brand’s earlier iterations returning to apply their vital talents, passion and decades of knowledge. Above all, the company remains committed to both its heritage and to the local community.

A Design-Focused Approach that Fuels Creative Freedom

The refreshed MG+BW website offers design professionals limitless customization for hundreds of frames available with 300+ fabric and leather options as well as multiple leg finishes. Bold new introductions include the Cooper sofa, with its sleek ‘50s-inspired silhouette, beautifully finished from every angle, as well as new fabric options such as evergreen sumptuous wool velvet for beloved products like the Giselle sofa with its organic design and gently curved back.

Digital tools include interactive draping technology that allows designers and their clients to view individual furniture pieces in any fabric option with a three-dimensional, 360-degree view and to create virtual room layouts. Every aspect of the MG+BW experience is intended to make purchasing custom furniture as effortless and exact as possible.

With the creation of a trade account, interior designers can enjoy exclusive pricing, place orders online, order free fabric swatches and more.

Looking Forward: A New Chapter for an Iconic Brand

As the new era of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams continues to unfold, the company’s commitment to design, transparency, and ease ensures that trade professionals can focus on creating inspiring spaces while trusting that their furniture needs will be met with precision and care. Surya Inc., the new parent company, brings a wealth of experience in the home furnishings industry to revitalize the brand, and the new owners are dedicated to restoring any trust lost by the brand’s past private equity owners by prioritizing customer satisfaction—with both exceptional craftsmanship and unmatched creative flexibility—and with the support of an experienced team of product specialists.

“My father founded Surya in 1976 with the belief that creating beautiful, high-quality products could transform homes and lives, always putting customers at the center of our mission.” says Tiwari. “I’m honored to continue MG+BW’s legacy under our care as I carry forward that vision by ensuring we support designers and earn their trust as we embark on this exciting new chapter together.”

Whether designers are sourcing for a luxury residential project or a boutique commercial space, the new and improved Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is positioned to deliver a refreshed offering of beautifully crafted, American-made furniture that meets their exacting standards.
