Nourison's Blockbuster License Programs Take Center Stage at New NYC Showroom

For New York Home Fashions Market, Nourison focused on machine-washable collections from licensees Nicole Curtis and Waverly, and special debuts in Calvin Klein accent and area rugs.

NEW YORK -- Nourison made a major splash in the machine-washable rug category at last week's New York Home Fashions Market, with new collections from licensing partners, Waverly and Nicole Curtis. The company also wowed buyers with additions to the coveted Calvin Klein accent rug program, and with myriad introductions to Nourison branded and Mina Victory collections.

E-commerce, mass merchant and big box buyers found plenty of fresh, on-point products in Nourison's new NYC showroom at 230 Fifth Ave., Suite 1305. The flowing space offered inspirational POS display ideas for accent rugs and pillows, as well as expansive racks lining walls with area rug introductions.


"Our focus is on really on bringing a freshness and current trends with our Nourison licensed products and highlighting our licensed programs, as well as our new washable area rug programs -- Waverly Washables and 57 Grand by Nicole Curtis," explained Julie Rosenblum, vice president of licensing at Nourison.

Asked about market changes following the Covid pandemic, she told RugNews.com, "It depends on the retailer and what the company’s protocol is. For me, for the customers we deal with, it's virtual everything. If it's somebody local, we see them off-market times. This week we are seeing people who are not in New York except for the market."

Rosenblum says virtual meetings have changed Nourison's presentation strategies. "It's a new way to be strategic. We send quality samples before the meeting so customers can touch the product while we're showing it on the screen -- even though they are not physically here."

The 57 Grand by Nicole Curtis Series 1 collection features washable, vintage-inspired flatweave area rugs with a contemporary color palette and style. The classic Persian designs' distressed effects are achieved from a soft blend of lightweight cotton and chenille.

WAVERLY
 


Waverly Washables area rugs debuted in a range of design styles popular with NY Market shoppers. Shown, WAW03

The new Waverly Washables area rug collection brings timeless style and modern sensibility with classic floral designs and elegant damask patterns in a soft blend of chenille and cotton yarns with a lightweight, flatweave construction.


Nourison showcased new accent rugs in the Waverly Washables program.

Buyers also got a first look at new washable pillows launched in NYC as part of the Sun N’ Shade outdoor program. The reversible outdoor pillows feature iconic Waverly designs perfectly coordinated with the area rugs. New Sun N’ Shade rug designs feature multicolor patterns with undersea motifs and leafy fronds.

"It was a natural progression to add to our Sun N’ Shade program with coordinating pillows for 2022 launch," said Julie Rosenblum. "Waverly is a household brand name and we are giving the consumer an opportunity to layer florals with geometrics, and novelty designs, which is true to the DNA of the brand.”

The Calvin Klein accent rug program, a perennial favorite for style and quality, is grown with the addition of new styles.

Calvin Klein introduced Enchanting area rugs and expanded the Safi and Seaside accent rug collections with new designs. The Enchanting area rug collection features an abstract design of blue-gray and ivory, enhanced by a textured high-low cut pile in a modern fiber blend.

Safi features fresh, clean designs with tonal contrasts and neutral hues. These accent rugs have subtle, textural depth with jacquard weaving in a cotton-poly-rayon fiber blend.
