RUG BUYERS' ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO SUMMER MARKETS, PART 1

Part 1 of RugNews.com's compendium to area rugs at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market and Las Vegas Market showcases the newest and hottest abstract designs.

ATLANTA / LAS VEGAS -- In this essential two-part buyers' guide to summer markets, RugNews.com features the latest looks in abstract and updated traditional designs not to be missed by summer shoppers.

And while July markets are historically slower than other times of the year, it doesn't mean that rug vendors are resting on their laurels. Instead, they are making it worthwhile for buyers to attend the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market, running from July 11-18, and Las Vegas Market, held from July 30-Aug. 3, by presenting never-seen-before designs, vibrant fashion-forward color combinations and unique constructions.

"Frankly, summers can be slow in Atlanta and Vegas, but we have been riding such great excitement throughout the end of 2016 and into 2017 for our 100th anniversary, that we expect these markets to be good for Capel in sales and attendance," said Cameron Capel, vice president national accounts at the rug importer. "Retailers are still looking for good deals, and at Capel Rugs, we bring the quality they expect at affordable prices."

Dynamic Rugs, which places a strong focus on Millennials, counts on newness to bring summer shoppers in the door. "We are constantly striving to be innovative here at Dynamic Rugs -- thus, our goal is always to introduce something that the market has yet to see, whether it's a slight variation from a previously successful product or an entirely new concept all together," said Anoosha Rouhanian, corporate counsel, business development at Dynamic Rug.

Adds Wendy Reiss, vice president of sales and national accounts at Kas Rugs, "We find that retailers are continuing to look for soft, inviting constructions that are super-soft and pleasant to the touch. Retailers are also looking for soothing transitionals in watercolor and palette looks. And traditionals are always good sellers as we head into fall -- the rich warm tones of spice and jewel tones will not disappoint."

In Part 1 of our Essential Guide we curate the top new designs debuting in Atlanta and Vegas representing the abstract art mega-trend in rugs. These pieces range from meticulously crafted handmade and hand-carved area rugs to super plush machine-made rugs. In addition, some popular license programs, including Capel's Kevin O'Brien and Jaipur Livings' Nikki Chu and Kate Spade New York by Jaipur Living, add fresh modern art designs.
